The village meeting makes it possible to identify whether the conditions are met to allow the correct implementation of the “Woman solar engineer” approach. In particular, whether the community is favourable to the sustainability of the solar program. The commitment or non-commitment shown by the community during the different stages of the village meeting makes it possible to assess these conditions.

Two cases can arise in the context of the village meeting:

• The conditions are not met: the field partner has the possibility of proposing another village to the NBCM;
• The conditions are met: the implementation of the Solar Mama approach can commence in the village.
• The conduct of the village meeting is done according to a methodology specific to Barefoot College Madagascar (BCI Mada). This methodology respects the principles of inclusion, transparency and free consent of the communities. This methodology is subject to regular improvements as insight is gained with the implementation of the Solar Mama approach.
